200m Backstroke - Semi-Finals

Oliver returned in the evening to make his bid to challenge for a spot in the final of the Men's 200m Backstroke. He was in the first semi-final alongside the likes of 2023 World Champion Hubert Kos, 400m Freestyle Olympic Champion Lukas Martens and 100m Backstroke World Record Holder Thomas Ceccon. 

Oliver opened the race up in a 27.08 and a good second 50m saw him turn at the halfway mark in 4th in a time of 57.00. The field moved closer and it became a tight battle - where Oliver then turned at the 150m mark in 8th before charging back to finish 6th in the first semi-final in a time of 1:57.28.

Following the conclusion of the second semi-final, Oliver ended up placing 12th overall, missing the finals by around 0.6 seconds. 

We now turn to both the Mixed & Men's Medley Relays due to take place on Friday 2nd August and Sunday 4th August respectively, where Oliver may be on the team (subject to team selection).
