Oliver safely progresses to the Semi-Finals tonight going in 12th.
Oliver was set to compete in the Men's 200m Backstroke in heat 4 this morning. Featuring in his heat was 2023 World Champion Hubert Kos, 400m Freestyle Olympic Champion Lukas Maertens as well as compatriot and British Record Holder in the 200m Backstroke Luke Greenbank.
Luke and Oliver led the way turning first an second respectively at 50, 100 and 150. Luke came back fast to touch in first in the heat whilst Oliver finished in 5th with a time of 1:57.56, around 1.3 seconds off his personal best set at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in London in April. Unfortunately for Luke, a disqualification for staying underwater past 15m off the start sees him out of the semi-finals whilst Oliver progresses in 12th.
