Edinburgh International 2024

14th March, 2024

Oliver breaks 2 meet records, and gets his 3-peat in the Men's Backstroke Skins!

Oliver travelled up to the Edinburgh International for the final prep meet before the Olympic Trials next month in London.

On the first day, Oliver competed in the Men's 100m Backstroke where he touched in as top seed with a heats time of 54.77 ahead of Scott Gibson and Jack Skerry. Oliver returned in the final to improve his heats time and win the event with a new meet record and time of 53.69, comfortably ahead of GB teammate Brodie Williams.

On the second day, Oliver raced the 50m Backstroke where he cruised in with a time of 25.24 in the heats. Later that day, Oliver was in the Men's Backstroke skins event where he was going for the '3-peat'. Having defended his title last year, he was going into it with a good chance of defending it again. Oliver's first swim was a new meet record time of 24.95 - which marks the 4th fastest time in his life. He later goes on to win the 2nd and 3rd rounds to successfully defend the title again.

Unfortunately - Oliver has had to withdraw from the 200m Backstroke, however it was a successful prep meet and the results are looking good as Oliver heads into the Olympic Trials next month.
